Southern California native Casey Ahern is releasing her first EP entitled He Was Summer on Nov. 2, 2018. With a country sound, the record includes four-tracks all written by Ahern herself.
Casey Ahern wrote “He Was Summer” back in 2015 as an ode to the California Mid State Fair, a two-week county fair located close to Ahern's family ranch. She wanted the song to tell the cliché summer love story, but with personal details of her life and experiences up at the ranch and fair. Over the years, the song has shaped into an upbeat, summery anthem after Ahern has been opening her full-band, live shows with it. When Ahern planned to record her first EP in 2018, there was no doubt it would include "He Was Summer" and ultimately become the title track of the release.
Being Ahern’s influences include not only country, but a majority of the 60s and 70s Laurel Canyon sound, producer David Brown was a perfect match. Brown has worked with various artists such as Fleetwood Mac and Frank Zappa. He Was Summer is a product of this collaboration fulfilling the aspects of country music, but with an old-school twist. Using all live musicians and no autotune, He Was Summer was recorded at Stagg Street Studio in Van Nuys, California.
He Was Summer is available now in online stores and streaming services such as Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and more!
